Created during NZ COVID-19 lockdown level 4, March, 2020.
Tane Mahuta - god of the forest and birds, son of Ranginui and Papatuanuku - the sky and the earth. Of all his brothers, it was he who separated his parents from their eternal embrace to bring light into the world.
In this piece, he is depicted in wheku form over a backdrop of inter woven puhoro elements to symbolize his kingdom of flora and fauna.
